Configuration Box

Two posts in one day! I must be getting better at this Blogging carry on!
I recently completed one of the Tim Holtz configuration boxes.I did one of the smaller ones because I didn't know how long it would take to do but now I wished I'd done a big one...never mind....just have to do another won't I.

Sorry the light wasn't quite right for the whole box but the smaller close-ups are OK.

I found some great old watch insides and casings on Ebay a while ago.Knew they would work well somewhere!

Now it's time to do a bigger one...I'll have to find some more treasures!!

Sunday Stampers - Words

I thought I'd do something in green this time ( not my fav.colour! ) and try to be pretty! (don't do that very often either)

I did this on a thin 6"x8" canvas using papers from the new Collections Elements range with some Tim Holtz embellishments (what else!!).The butterflies and the metal frame have been flooded with glossy accents.

Metal

This weeks Simon Says entry is "Metal".Unfortunately the photos are not that great (definitely need some photo lessons)! I have used three Tea Tags from Delish Designs and covered them with foil tape, run them through three different embossing folders then painted over with black paint. The excess paint was wiped off to show the metal foil details.I've used Tim Holtz metal numbers, various beads, laser cuts and tissue paper from the new Collections Elements range. I then attached the tags together with some ribbon on the back to create a hinge so they looked like a mini screen.

"Hats"

This weeks Sunday Stampers theme is Hats. I had great difficulty with this one! I used my Mad Hatter stamps from Alice in Wonderland. The background has tea pots & cups and saucers stamped lightly with black Stazon then the edges distressed with Victorian Velvet.I coloured the Mad Hatter with Smooch inks and distressed the edges of those with Stormy Sky. I had an old Stampin Up set that contained the "hatty birthday" words ( Hels let her hubby choose this theme... I hope she doesn't do it again!...sorry Grim..)

Last Minute Entry!

I thought I'd try an entry in to the Simon Says Stamp & show comp. which this week is "Distressed/Torn Edges".I just recently got the Tim Holtz Steampunk stamps so I was keen to try them out.I have also used the new glassine paper which is great!I used Pumice Stone distressed ink on the main tag,Weathered Wood,Vintage Photo& Spiced Marmalade on the book paper and background. The scrabble letter is mounted on bit of rusted wire mesh.

Sunday Stampers week 158 Steampunk

After my last post I couldn't believe it when I went to Hels' challenge for Sunday Stampers and it was Steampunk! I was purely coincidental! But I did something different anyway.
I did the following 8x8 canvas using the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutant papers plus a few other bits.

Steampunk Nicho

A little while ago I bought this three sided Nicho which sat gathering dust waiting for a lightning bolt of inspiration to strike my head!.Then I found some Steampunk bits & pieces that I'd forgotten that I had (does anybody else do that?) & they just happened to fit perfectly. Here's the result.

I liked the shape of this so ended making another in coreboard (without the windows) but added chain to the top so it could be hung.I decorated this one with some Tim Holtz bits & stamps.

I'm now off to go and see Hels Sheridans blog to get this weeks Sunday Stampers Challenge

Vintage Family Watch

I thought I'd share one of my favourite things (so I can enter it into the next Sunday Stampers Challenge as well because the challenge is Reasons To be Cheerful!!) I altered a wooden box to display an antique watch that belonged to my dads great uncle.

I covered the box with some old sheet music and Tim Holtz tissue tape, then inked it with Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and a few sprays. The small B&W clocks are metal which I linked to an old watch housing with chain. The clock in the housing is wooden. Then I added a few metal embellishments.
Inside the box is lined with velvet and in the left side are some more wooden clock faces. The actual pocket watch is pinned to the velvet with Tim Holtzs pin things( can't remember what they are called...Alzheimer's kicking in!!).I don't know if you can see from the photo, but the metal disk on the end of the chain has the Lords Prayer engraved on it.

Another First

Thought I'd get even more adventurous and enter this in the Sunday Stampers Challenge week 156 which is RED.
I inked the background using a distressed stain-Fired Brick, then added a more concentrated splatter from ink on my craft mat.The background ( and heart ) stamps are Le Blanche.I used twinkling H2O's for the heart & wings.

I'm Finaly Doing It!

After many months of deliberation and encouragment from my friends(more like bullying!) I've bitten the bullet and set up my own blog.I don't have the best computer skills so I don't know how things will go so bear with me!
I'd thought I'd share my latest project with you first. I've used one of Tim Holtz' configuration trays and some of the new Stamp It Stamps.I love all things from Tim (along with most of the stamping world I think) and Blues & Browns are my fav. colours.(don't do pink very often!!)
